This guide provides the file specifications for submitting DRDP (2025) assessment data to the DR Access Data online data collection system. It describes reporting requirements and submission timelines, the structure of the data file, and the definition, valid format, and codes for each demographic, program, and rating field.
General Information
Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) (2025) assessment data are submitted to the California Department of Education (CDE) by Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs) via the DR Access Data online data collection system:
The following information is provided to assist in meeting reporting requirements.
Note that DRDP (2025) assessment data must be submitted to DR Access Data for:
- Any infant and toddler who has a signed Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), and is receiving special education services as of:
- November 1 for inclusion in the fall assessment
- April 1 for inclusion in the spring assessment
- Any child enrolled in preschool, transitional kindergarten (TK), or kindergarten (K) who has a signed Individualized Education Program (IEP), and is receiving special education services as of:
- November 1 for inclusion in the fall assessment
- April 1 for inclusion in the spring assessment
- Prior to the cutoff date, the assessment should be initiated within the first 60 days of services.
- If the child turns 6 at any point during the school year (July 1 through June 30), the DRDP is not required in either the fall or spring assessment periods.
Critical Dates for Reporting Requirements
The observation and documentation periods will remain the same year to year. The submission date may fluctuate each year, depending on which day of the week the date falls on. The due date will always be the first business day of the month indicated.

Required Data Fields
DRDP (2025) data includes two kinds of information:
- Specific demographic and program information about children ages birth to five, with IFSPs or IEPs, receiving special education and related services from Local Educational Agencies (LEAs). This information comes from the “Information Page” that is completed as a part of the DRDP (2025) assessment. DRDP (2025) Table fields 1 through 38 provide the field specifications for demographics and program information.
- DRDP (2025) ratings on all measures from the DRDP (2025) assessment instrument for all eligible children. DRDP Table fields 39 through 110 provide the field specifications from the Rating Records.

File Structure with Field Descriptions and Codes
The DRDP (2025) file structure is provided below in Figure 1 – DRDP (2025) Data Table Field Matrix. The descriptions and valid codes for each field are provided in this technical assistance guide.
The DRDP (2025) Table field matrix provides a quick field reference structure and other information regarding the DRDP data file structure. Specifics on each data field include the following information: (1) field name, (2) field type, (3) field length, and (4) content verification.
In-depth data field particulars are found in the Field Details section, which follows the matrix. Information in this section includes: (1) field definition, (2) purpose, (3) valid format, examples, and codes, (4) comments, if any, and (5) methods of verification applied, if any.
Table Content Overview
DRDP Data File: DRDP (2025) data files shall contain at least one record for each child age birth to five receiving special education and related services from LEAs who are assessed during the current assessment cycle.
The first matrix column, Field #, is cross-referenced with the next section, Field Detail, which provides additional information concerning each field.
