Understanding the DRDP: A Family Guide

You may have heard the terms "DRDP" or "Desired Results" from your child’s teacher, caregiver, early interventionist, or special education provider. This document describes what these terms mean for you and your child.

Identify eligible children to assess.
Check with your administrator about when and where to submit your Rating Records.
The assessment should be initiated within the first 60 calendar days of services.

The Desired Results Access Project supports special educators, administrators, and families in implementing the California Department of Education’s Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) for:

Infants and toddlers with Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and
Children 3 - 5 years old with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

As part of the California Department of Education’s early childhood special education statewide system of support we partner with the CalBloom project, that coaches teachers to use DRDP results to inform instruction embedded in daily activities, routines, and transitions.
